TAIPEI (The China Post) — The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC,中央流行疫情中心) on Wednesday upgraded travel alerts to Level 2 for eight European countries, including Iceland, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Austria.
Countries in the Middle East, including Bahrain and Kuwait, have also seen their travel status raised to Level 2.
The CECC advises travelers to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days upon return from the aforementioned countries.
The upgrading of travel alerts come after recent reports of 631 coronavirus -related deaths in Italy and subsequent lockdown of the country earlier this week.
An additional 16 European countries, including Greece, Czech Republic, Portugal, Finland, Slovenia, Poland, Estonia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, the UK and Ireland, have reached Level 1 travel alert, the CECC reports.
